HISTORY

GNO-ABO Charitable and Educational Foundation, Inc. was established by the Alpha Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. under the leadership of the 25th President, Dr. Conchetta White Fulton, on August 26, 2001.

VISION

Established to increase philanthropic endeavors and programs of service in the New Orleans communities.

PURPOSE

This corporation was organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, educational, literary, and cultural activities for the benefit of the educational needs of college and/or university students as well as college bound students.

MISSION

The goal is to sponsor projects and provide services to meet the needs of the local community, for the acquirement, holding of, administration, management, and maintenance of property, real, personal and mixed, so that same may be devoted to above cause.

CURRENT SCHOLARSHIPS/FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITIES
The Patricia Arnolie & Dr. Brenda Owens Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship established by the Fulton Family which was instituted in the names of two past members who made significant contributions to the education of health and wellness. Both dedicated they professional lives to the healthcare industry.

Qualifications:

To be awarded to a graduating high school girl that has displayed leadership, community service, and scholastic and academic achievements.

Award Process and Period:

Local high school counselors will be contacted by the scholarship chairperson to recruit applicants. The scholarship shall be awarded by the last Friday in March annually (depending upon availability of funds).

Beautillion Financial Awards

Scholarship instituted to provide financial awards to participants of the Beautillion Program, annually.

Qualifications:

Must be a participant in the current Beautillion Program. The recipients are determined by the Beautillion Committee Members. Only students who are furthering their education at an institution of higher learning are qualified to receive the award.

Award Process and Period:

Financial awards are presented to the awardees the evening of the Beautillion culminating event.

The GNO-ABO Charitable & Educational Foundation, Inc. Financial Awards

These scholarships are made possible as a result of proceeds of the annual Jazzy Jean Brunch – a signature program of the foundation and the Alpha Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Scholarships are awarded to the following universities:

            • Dillard University
            • Loyola University New Orleans
            • Southern University at New Orleans
            • Xavier University of Louisiana

Qualifications:

To be eligible to receive this financial award, students must apply directly through their university’s financial aid department. The qualifications are outlined on the application.

Award Process and Period:

The application period is outlined on the application provided to the financial departments at each of the universities.

Special Requirement:

All who receive this award must attend the event established for the financial award presentation. Failure to attend the event could forfeit receiving the award.
